Personal Statement

I have had the dream to go big, to play at the next level ever since I was in elementary school and since then I have pushed myself to be athletically and academically eligible. My academic career has lead me to multiple opportunities but the best opportunity I have ever received is the chance to play basketball with a team, a family. I am a firm believer that I can only get better, that failure is my best friend, and that anything I want in my future I have to put in the hard work to get. I like to challenge myself and be the most aggressive on the team or even in the whole gym, for me basketball is more than just basketball. 1. It's my love. 2. It prepares people for life. 3. It is not just a team and a sport, it's a family and culture that many can relate to. To play at the next level and to be a team player is my drive to get better everyday and I am not willing to give up.

I have learned through many instances and teachers that working hard and putting yourself out there to get better is the difference between average and good. That is why I believe that I am a student before an athlete, that I academically have to succeed before I succeed on the court. Time management is a great tool for me in doing the many activities I am involved in like stuco, 4-H, FFA, etc. I like to take leadership roles in clubs and teams, I like to help younger members in learning,  I like to show that I am more than a leader but someone anyone can come talk to. I am a person that has dreams that I have been told I can't achieve, but that's where people are wrong, I am putting in the work and not giving up to make it to the next level.
