Jayla Gillott '23 Recruiting Profile

My name is Jayla Gillott. As long as I can remember I have always loved sports and learning new things. I started playing basketball 8 years ago. I've played for school, YMCA, and the Soco League. I also enjoy playing varsity Golf for my high school as the captain. It is my dream to pursue a career in engineering (biomedical or aerospace) and to play basketball in college. I have also received awards from some of my high school coaches for "team spirit", "most coachable" and "The 6th Man award.  My passion for sports has pushed me to excel in academics, sports, and life. 

To better prepare myself for my future I continue to play sports, maintain an above 4.0 GPA for the last two semesters, and I work part-time at a local restaurant. This has also helped me to develop some important time management skills. Alongside with my future academic and athletic goals I have taken several classes to help prepare such as: Intro to Engineering, JROTC, Human anatomy and Physiology, College algebra, More than a game (which is an academic elective on the importance and impact of sports in the world).

In my free time I love to spend time with my family, play basketball, golf, watch sports, fish, camp, explore new things, video games, and traveling when I have the opportunity. 

I would love more than anything to be the first in my family to graduate college as a student athlete and proudly represent my college.
