Earning a spot on the Varsity team as a freshman has been the highlight of my high school career. Although we did not win that many games, my experience was about the team, energy and positivity. The drive and positivity provided by my teammates helped me work harder and made me want to improve as a shooting guard and point guard.
My parents have influenced me throughout my life so far by working hard and never giving up even when times get hard. Jen Moyers, my club basketball coach has also made a really big impact on my life because she pushed me when I thought I couldn't go farther. She taught me how to be mentally strong and if you want something bad enough that you are going to have to work for it.
I became interested in basketball in 6th grade because that’s when my school had a basketball team. All my friends were doing sports so I thought I would give it a try. I would always play outside with the neighbors but I never thought I would play on a team.
I have learned that in basketball I’m very energetic and when I’m outside of basketball I’m very calm and outgoing. Before I started playing basketball I was very shy and I’m starting to get over it. I have learned that you need a really good mental mind set to be able to push yourself. The only way to get better is if you have a good mind set and you are willing to work.
My academic goal for high school is to complete the biomedical program because it's laying down a path for my future college studies. I'm interested in working with Prosthetics.
Some unique characteristics and skills that I possess are time management, team work, computer skills and being a hard worker. I enjoy working with kids, and like to spend time with teammates. I have also helped out with Upward Youth Basketball and was a referee for Upward Basketball for the season of 2018/2019.
