Personal Statement
Hello, my name is Joslyn Spires and I am from Colorado. I play basketball for Glenwood Springs High School under head coach Rhonda Moser. I attend Glenwood Springs High School and I have maintained an unweighted 4.0 GPA. For the past three years, I have challenged myself in classes to get the very best grades I can, I value academics and strive not only to be an athlete but a student-athlete. I have also participated in the National Honor Society (NHS) and the Rotarian club where I have had the opportunity to be involved in many service projects around my community. Recently, I have been thinking about what I want to study in college. I have been interested in the medical field and biology but have not yet set my mind on what I would like to study.
When I first began playing basketball in the third grade I discovered my love for the game and passion to become the best basketball player I could possibly be. With my first touch of the ball, I knew I was going to work day in and day out to complete my goals. Every day I commit myself to the game, I am constantly working on what I can improve and trying to be the best version of myself. But this is not the only reason I love the game so much, I love that basketball is a team sport. I love knowing that my teammates and coaches will always be there for me, challenging me and making me better. The relationships that are created when you play basketball last forever and that is why I love my high school team and I am looking forward to playing collegiate basketball at the next level with people I can create long-lasting relationships with.
