Personal Statement
I love the game of basketball and even more what it develops in me as a person. It is a privilege to use my athletic ability to be a positive influence across my campus and in my community. I have a great desire to continue competing and influencing at the next level with greater magnitude and opportunity. I have a high level of satisfaction from achieving my goals and experiencing the rewards of hard work.
I value the responsibility and accountability that comes from being a teammate. The team environment has been a place where I thrive in leadership and integrity as well as enjoy friendships. The community and accountability from the team aspect of basketball has been the biggest blessing of playing the sport thus far.
Starting varsity as a freshman gave me the opportunity to immediately gain the respect of my teammates with hard work, commitment and coachability on and off the court. I have been awarded player of the game 9 times, selected to the 5A Continental League - All Conference Team and most proud to have achieved the top ranked 3-point shooter in the 5A Continental League. I led the conference with a total of 54 three-pointers for the 2017 - 2018 season. During my season -high performance of 28 points I shot 7 of 10 from the 3-point line. Playing on two different traveling club teams has been a crucial part of developing me into the player I am today.
Off the court, I have experienced other significant successes through academics and extracurricular activities. I intend to pursue an education focused in the Biomed field. I recently received The Academy of Future Physicians and Medical Scientists Award of Excellence. I am very excited to be able to pursue excellence not only athletically but educationally. I am excited to find the right campus community and culture. Serving in community is an important value to me. Because I have been given much, I will always seek to give back. Three of the most impactful ways I have been able to serve: Camp Barnabas (a residential camp for kids with special needs, annually building houses for the homeless in Mexico and acting as Co-President for The Fellowship of Christian Athletes at my high school.
