Hello! My name is Chelsea Dos Santos. I became interested in basketball when I was in second grade. When I was little, I went to all of my sister’s games and supported her. After watching my sister play basketball, it made me want to be a basketball player. When I was in third grade, I started playing basketball and ever since that first day I started, I just continue to fall in love with game more and more each day. Whenever I pick up a basketball, I always work very hard and try to get better each time. I am always trying to improve my shot as a shooter but I am also always trying to improve my ball handling skills. Just because I am known as a “shooter”, doesn’t mean I stop working on my form and my dribbling skills. I work on repetition and on my form all the time so that when it comes to games, my shot is the same form every single time. I also believe that defense is key to success on the court. A player can’t score on the offensive end and then give up shots on the defensive end. I think both ball pressure and help position are very important. Another thing that I think is very important is COMMUNICATION and SPIRIT! Not at lot of basketball players think it’s important to communicate on the court, but it is so important to have communication with your teammates on the court especially on the defensive end. I am very big on communication and spirit. On my basketball teams, I am known to be very talkative and to have a lot of spirit. I believe that it is important to cheer your teammates on no matter what and to bring positive spirit to all practices and games. I love being a leader and a role model for others. I think it is important to set good examples as a leader and a role model.
