Hi Coaches! My name is Kamiya Jones, I'm 19 years old. I had to take a year off from playing basketball after being awarded a D2 Scholarship and staying local due to a Medical diagnosis in August 2023. I have recently started back training and I am ready to play the game I love again.
I have been participating in sports since I was 4 starting with Taekwondo, Softball, Soccer, Lacrosse, Wrestling, Flag Football, Tackle Football and Basketball. I always knew I loved Basketball and wanted to focus on bettering my skills and Basketball IQ. I've played on an all boys team and several girls teams. I was the starting Point Guard my 8th grade year. During my Freshman year I was able to learn the pace of High School basketball on the Varsity team, which allowed me to adjust and work harder. 2020-2021 as a Sophomore at Middleburg High School, I was the starting Point Guard for the Varsity team. 2021-2022 I went back to my home school at Oakleaf High School and helped my team win the District Championships 2 times. I beat my personal record by scoring 8- 3 pointers in a game. I practice and train 6 days a week. Outside of my goal of being able to play in College and then the WNBA, I also would like to become a Physical Therapist / Athletic Trainer. I am funny, caring and I work hard. I taught myself how to rollerblade, play basketball and many other things by watching YouTube, practicing and going outside and doing my own workouts and drills. I'm a team player and I am not afraid to assist versus just taking the shots for myself. I think a team is where everyone contributes by doing what's best for the entire Team and the outcome of the games. We all want to WIN but if we work together, win or lose it will feel great. I think I bring a lot of good vibes and leadership to those around me. I plan to take the next year to not only develop as a better Athlete but also a better Student. I am looking for not only the opportunity to play at the collegiate level, but to also be in an environment to grow as an Athlete and Individual.
