Personal Statement
I am a student athlete that has been in love with basketball since I was eight years old. My core values, as well as my athleticism are my foundation to being the best possible student athlete. My years of playing competitive basketball has given me the knowledge and skill-set to be a competent basketball player at the next level. I earned the starting point guard at Impact Academy for consecutive years by excelling in the classroom and performing at a very high level on the court. I use a combination of my talents, crafts, and interpersonal skills to be a positive asset to every team I have been a part of. My work ethic and drive for continuous improvement are what has made me the leader I am. As the team captain I push my team; providing direction, communication, and motivation to achieve success with both rigorous practice, intense training, and games.
My basketball maturity is really taking form. My high school plays against National Junior College Athletic Association colleges as well as global sports academies. This has been a great opportunity for exceptional growth in my basketball maturity. I have developed a balance of physical and mental growth well beyond other young women my age. I do intense strength and conditioning at Impact Academy. I compete against elite institutions during the school year and have very competitive Amateur Athletic Union competition at national level events during the summer. I learn and study along side my Coaches that have DI basketball experience and learn the conceptual view of the game.
I am in search of a program that I can contribute to. I currently hold a 3.9 GPA and I scored a 990 on my SAT. I will earn a bachelor in science majoring in criminal justice. My goal is to attain higher education while being an impactful basketball player at the collegiate level. I am a well-rounded person. I take the time to give back to my community in between my basketball seasons. I have volunteered over 150 hours coaching at my YMCA and participated in morale events at my local senior citizen center. Now, I am ready to embrace the challenges of college.
