Personal Statement

Besides academics, I love to play basketball. I’m great at feeding the post and finding the open player. I can finish through contact as well as finish the open shot. I see the floor well and I’m good at filling the lanes in a transition offense. I really like to play post defense and trapping the ball. My favorite defense is 1-3-1 and second being 1-2-2.

I’m so excited to be in my junior year of high school. I enjoy many of my academics but by far my favorite class is literature. I love reading action, action-dramas and dramas. My favorite book is Perks of Being a Wallflower; one reason it came out the year I was born, second the movie was beautiful. My favorite writing style is Descriptive because it helps get my thoughts out and create a picture. I also enjoy writing debate papers; thus, I can argue without getting in trouble.

I’m interested in attending a school where I can grow in academics, basketball and my intellect. I’d like to play at a college or university where I will be able to contribute to my team to the best of my abilities.

Rya Cotton -- 2014 EBA Super 64 Camp -Posted June 22nd, 2014 by hemi ------ Strengths-Defensive specialist,Fundamentals,Hustle and Energy ------- Needs Improvement-Developing an Offensive Specialty. ------- Cotton is a hustle player who gives very good effort on the both ends of the floor. At this moment she is most effective on the defensive end where she uses her energy to make plays such as getting deflections or rebounds. On the offensive end, Rya possesses good fundamentals allowing her to work the offense or run the fast break. Moving forward she will need to hone one of these skills into a specialty.
