Hello, my name is Sydney Jones, I am a varsity captain on Hiram High School's women's basketball team. My freshmen year I played both varsity and junior varsity basketball, and was a starter at the JV level, I just recently became a varsity starter my sophomore season. Following the end of my freshmen year I received he JV Lady Hornet Academic Award with a 3.9 GPA and I also received the 2018 FCA Leadership Award. Following the end of my sophomore season I received the 2019 FCA Leadership Award, Varsity Lady Hornet Academic Award, and was selected to the 2nd Team All County Team.
I pride myself on being encouraging to my teammates and being there for them on and off the court. I am very focused on both athletics and academics, I am currently enrolled in the Dual Enrollment Program with Chattahoochee Technical College at which I have a 4.0 GPA. My goal is to attend college and play basketball and major in civil engineering. I enjoy many genres of music, reading, and just about any kind of sport there is, and volunteering. During middle school I recorded over 100+ community service hours at a food pantry my family and I started at my church.
As a child I have always played basketball and played soccer for a season. I have a deeply ingrained love for the game that has been passed on through family. On the court I try to be the one of the hardest workers, coach-able, and the toughest players both mentally and physically. I take every opportunity I can to be the best I can, even if it means getting in the gym before school or working out on my day off.
My ultimate goal is to play basketball at a college that represents my values and has coaches and athletes that will push me to be my very best. After college basketball is over I hope to eventually play professional basketball. I am open to all avenues that will help me reach both my academic and athletic goals.
