Hello Coaches, my name is McKenzie Tyner and I would like to first thank you for taking the time to learn more about me as a person, player, and student athlete. It is currently my Sophomore year at Jefferson City High School in Jefferson, Georgia.
At Madison County middle school I was the highest scorer on my 7th & 8th grade team, I also lead my team to win the 8AAAA 8th Grade Region Championship but I didn't feel like I would grow and be pushed enough being the best on my team. We decided to transfer to Jefferson City High School not only for their girls basketball program, but also for their high ranking in test scores state wide and strong academic program. It was a very hard decision to walk away from all of my friends, who didn't support my decision, but I had to do what was best for me in order to follow my dream of playing basketball at the collegiate level.
I truly love the game of basketball, even in the midst of all the loudness and chaos, I can't help but to feel at peace when I am on the court! I started playing AAU travel basketball at the young age of 11 and have played ever since. In 5th grade, 2011, I played for Team Athens where we finished 3rd Place in the Division 1 National Championship in Orlando, Florida. In 2012, I played for GA Jazz and my 12U Rec Team won the State Championship with only 7 players! In 2013 & 2014 I had the privilege to play with the Atlanta Cagers out of Suwanee, GA and we won the AAU Classic Division National Championship at the ESPN Wide World of Sports.
My Freshman year at Jefferson, I was the 2nd highest scorer on my team with 227 points, averaging 9 points per game and helped lead my team to the 8 AAA State playoffs. I was awarded the Future Star Award and Region 8 AAA Honorable Mention for the All Region Team. I also played AAU travel ball for EOTO out of Gainesville, GA.
I feel like I would be an asset to any team because I give my team 110% of me on and off the court. My team is my family. I have not decided on my major yet, but I think I would like to major in the medical or forensics field. I currently have a GPA of 3.6 and plan to maintain it.
Thanks again for taking the time to learn more about me.
