Personal Statement
My name is Aynastee Frederick, and I am currently a freshman at Southern Wesleyan University. I was 11 years old when basketball became an important part of my life. My family and I moved around a lot, so it was hard to make friends but, basketball helped me find a group of girls with the same interest. At the age of 13 my dedication for the sport grew. My hard work paid off, I was the team's MVP in 8th grade.
I started to experience more success and by the time I was a freshman in high school I was the number one scorer on the freshman team. My sophomore year was also a great year. I made the varsity team, the ONLY sophomore to make the team. Although I was the team's youngest player, I did not use that as an excuse and I played extra hard to pull my weight. This landed me as the starting five and this is when I knew I wanted play at the collegiate level.
Playing basketball has allowed me to establish life-long friendships and it is the source of my relentless, driven attitude which has transferred into the classroom. My uncle always says excellence is a lifestyle and now that I am older I finally understand what he means. I want to do my best at everything I attempt.
I have strong physical defense, mental toughness, and a high basketball IQ. I am a team leader and try to lead by example while also encouraging my teammates. I am very coachable. I want to attend a college where I can push myself in the classroom and on the basketball court. I strive to be one of the hardest working recruits you'll find. I hope to become a great role model to all my peers, in my community and make my parents proud.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
