Personal Statement

My dream is to play competitive collegiate basketball where I can use my skills that I have worked to develop since I was five years old.  I am a team player that not only likes to improve each game but also encourages, uplifts, and supports my teammates.  While basketball is my number one passion, I have enjoyed playing volleyball and participating in track as a sprinter and hurdler.  Because I live in a rural community with limited opportunities, I had to make the difficult decision this last year after making the Nike EYCL League team out of Boise, which is a four hour drive for me.  This commute made it difficult to continue to participate in volleyball and track but I was willing to make that sacrifice for the sport I love in order to make it to my practice and tournaments with my travel team.  I am confident that the skills and experience I develop with my EYCL team will be worth the sacrifices my parents and I have made to get to the next level.

I also love to bake, organize, and decorate.  I believe nothing comes easy in life and hard work is necessary.  My parents and extended family are some of the hardest workers I know and have instilled that in me.  I have been mowing lawns since I was ten years old with my brother and we have a successful lawn business that keeps us busy all summer in between our sporting endeavors. I try to live by the "Mamba Mentality" and would love the opportunity to further my basketball aspirations on a Collegiate Court.
