Personal Statement
I am a 5'5 point guard/shooting guard from Kickapoo, Illinois which is about 15 miles west of Peoria, Illinois. I am currently a senior at Brimfield High School. I was a 4 year starter for my high school basketball team. I was leading scorer my first two years with a 11.7 ppg average my Freshman year and 16.2 ppg my Sophomore year. My Junior year, I averaged 9.4 ppg and 8.4 apg and 11.3 rpg and led the team in assists and rebounds. Our record this past year was 30-4 and the year before that it was 27-5. My team finished first in both our conferences the past two years. In early December 2012, I scored my 1000 point in my high school career. In February of 2014, I set the Illinois state record (boys and girls) for career assists. I was designated captain the last three years. I was selected 1st team all-conference team for both Prairieland and the InterCounty conferences all four years. I was selected to the IBS Small School All State Honorable Mention Team as a Freshman (2011) and Sophomore (2012) and the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association 1A/2A All State Special Mention as a Sophomore (2012) and 4th team as a Junior (2013) and 3rd team as a Senior. The last two years I was selected to the Peoria Journal Star all area team for 1A/2A players in the greater Peoria area and surrounding areas within the Peoria Journal Star coverage area. I have played travel basketball with the Peoria Rush an elite AAU/USJN travel team since 2005 as their starting point guard. While on the Rush, I have earned the following individual honors: Windy City Classic All Star Team (2011), Midwest Invitational All Star Team (2010), USJN Summer Finale All Tournament Team-Defense (2009) and USJN Wildcat Classic All Star Team (2009). I am proud to also say that in addition to my club team placing first or second in multiple tournaments, we were the AYBT National Champions in 2008 and placed first at the Illinois AAU State Tournament in 2010 and third at the Illinios AAU State Tournament in 2011. Last summer, we traveled to the Music City Madness Tournament in Nashville TN and placed in the top 4 teams in 15U competition. It has been rewarding to play at an elite level with the best players out of the Peoria/Bloomington-Normal/Springfield areas and playing against the best players from their respective States. I am looking to play basketball and/or softball at the collegiate level to continue this journey. I am open to all athletic and/or academic scholarship opportunities, whether that means NCAA Division I, II or III, NAIA programs or junior colleges. I am also open to any size school in any location. I would be particularly interested in attending a school with a Christian background though I am open to learning about all schools. My goal is to study pre-med or nursing so I would like to be able to have the opportunity to pursue these goals in addition to my athletic endeavors.
