Ever since I was a little girl, I have been a determined, goal driven young lady. At the age of five, I entered the competitive world of tumbling. After my first competition, I told my parents that I was going to be a national champion. Through determination and hard work, I proudly stood on the podium in Cincinnati, Ohio the following summer, an undefeated athlete, claiming my National Championship trophy. This experience opened the door to my athletic career and defined the type of invincible athlete I am today.
My athletic career continued through elementary school where I played on competitive traveling softball, basketball, and tumbling teams. At the junior high level, I was a four sport athlete participating in softball, volleyball, basketball, and track. During my seventh grade year, while serving as a setter and captain, I led my volleyball team to its first ever appearance at the state tournament. In basketball, my team made history, earning a third place state title my seventh grade year and bringing home a state championship during my eighth grade year. For both seasons, I served my team as their captain, the three guard, and their shutdown defender on the court. In the spring, I ran track, going to state all three years of my junior high career. During my seventh grade year, I went to state placing 6 th in the 4 x 200 meter relay and 3rd in the 4 x 400 meter relay. During my eighth grade year, I went to state in all four of my events, placing 9 th in the 400 meter dash, 6th in the 4 x 200 relay, and 2 nd in the 4 x 400 meter relay, coming from four places behind as anchor and shattering the old school record.
As a freshman in high school, I was a dual sport athlete this fall, participating in volleyball and cross country. I was one of two freshmen to make the junior varsity team, serving as a setter. In cross country, I was my team’s lead varsity runner, earning a conference championship and leading my team to a sectional berth. I received All-Conference honors for my efforts in cross-country. Last spring I ran for the varsity track team, filling roles as a sprinter and middle distance runner. There, I led my 4x400 team to state.
Of all my athletic endeavors, basketball is the sport that is nearest to my heart. I have spent the last three summers playing the AYBT and USJN basketball circuits, making the All-Tournament team for several tournaments. At the school level, my varsity coach told me that he wanted me to learn the point guard position during my freshman year. I worked diligently throughout the summer and attended Point Guard College. At the start of the season, I was rewarded with a varsity jersey and became the starting varsity point guard after the first six games of the season. My hustle and coachability earned me my varsity jersey, but my work ethic, rebounding, ball handling, unmatchable defense, and scoring earned me my starting role.
While sports are extremely important to me, I am a versatile individual serving my school as members of Student Council, Math Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and Foreign Language Scholar Bowl competitor. I serve my community as a Children’s Ministry Teacher at my church and as a guest speaker for the EJHS FCA group. I was elected the Freshman Homecoming Attendant of my class. Academically, I am a member of the Academic Hall of Fame, High Honor Roll, and have a 4.0/4.0 GPA.
I am beginning my quest for a basketball team at the collegiate level that shares my drive, hustle, and passion for the game. I am a leader who refuses to lose and will do anything necessary to accomplish my dreams.
