Giana Rawlings '24 Recruiting Profile

I have been playing basketball since I was five years old. I knew from the first time I stepped on the court that I wanted to play the game as long as possible.  I have been driven to continually develop my skills that would help position me for the opportunity to play at the collegiate level. 

I have very high basketball IQ (gained experience through working with several coaches), have multi-range shooting skills, strong physical defense and mental toughness.  I am a team leader and try to lead by example while also encouraging my teammates on and off the court.  I am very coachable and have also gained valuable experience as a coach when I was asked to be an assistant coach at my former junior high school.  I was provided the opportunity to develop and lead practices throughout the season and have been asked back for the ’22-’23 season.  I strive to be one of the hardest working individuals, and one of the most dedicated recruits you’ll find.

I am always working to develop and enhance my basketball skills through individual workouts, working with multiple coaches, athletic training to gain strength and foot speed/agility, and have been involved with multiple AAU teams.  

In the classroom, I have continually maintained a high GPA (currently 4.9 out of 5.0).  Additionally, I am a board member for my school’s Best Buddies chapter, a member of I-Club leadership program, a volunteer in Special Olympics and Miracle League of Central Illinois.  I have been acknowledged for Honor Roll/High Roll and was selected as a Big 12 Conference Scholar-Athlete.

Ultimately, I am a goal-oriented individual who wants to find a college that will challenge me both academically and athletically, which will help develop me and prepare me for life experiences.
