Personal Statement
Hi, my name is Natalie Bearbower and I’ve been playing basketball since 3rd/4th grade. I instantly fell in love with the sport and I am proud of how far I’ve gotten. I believe that I am a hard-working, positive, competitive, and easily coachable athlete. My freshman year was a boost of confidence for me because I made the junior varsity team. I started every game and was one of the leading scorers. But my sophomore year was almost the complete opposite, I felt a lot of pressure to be on varsity that I stressed out more than just playing the game. That cost me my confidence and my spot on the varsity team, and I was on junior varsity for the second year. The whole season I struggled with my confidence and ability. So after sophomore year ended I turned myself around and began to regain my confidence.
During the summer and into the fall I worked hard enough and gained my confidence and skills back. I became a varsity starter and I am very happy with the way I played my junior year. But of course, I always want to get better and be the best athlete and person I can be. This past season had its hardships too though. We lost 7 seniors, which made this season a little hard and I don’t feel like our record resembled how skilled we are as a team. I am confident that this AAU season and my senior season will show my skills and potential that will give me opportunities for success.
