Hello, my name is Sophie Goodwin. I have been playing basketball since I was 4 and have always dreamt of playing at college. I have played on multiple travel/AAU teams since I was 9. I had a foot injury at the start of my Freshman season and started on JV. Halfway through the season I was called up to dress with the varsity team. Besides basketball, I also play Soccer, XC, and Track.
Playing multiple sports has prepared me to become the student-athlete that I am today. I work extremely hard in becoming the best that I can be in each sport that I play. In addition to those sports, I also do my best to excel in the classroom. I have a 3.852 GPA and take honor classes when available. All these accomplishments are helping to prepare me for the next level in athletics and academics.
On the court, I have worked many years on my shooting form, ball-handling skills, and understanding the game. I'm focused on being well rounded , considered to be a great team player, hard worker and taking pride on my defensive effort. I work multiple days a week with private instructors to keep polishing my skills. The sacrifices that I put in to learn the skills are paying off with my performance on the court.
In addition to basketball, I have excelled in Soccer and XC/Track. I have many accomplishments in those sports as well. Played club soocer l since I was in 3rd grade, and started varsity as a freshman. In XC/Track, I made the Junior High State Finals in 3 events, and as a Freshman made the XC State Finals. while playing Varsity Soccer at the same time. These sports have helped me round out my skills in basketball. Soccer helps my hand-eye coordination, and keeps my footwork solid when not during basketball season. Track and XC keep in great athletic condition while giving me a chance to compete at a high level.
I want to attend a college where I can shine in the classroom and on the court. I'm open to all options and ultimately want to find the right college for my athletic and academic interests that let me compete at a high level.
