Although I am still undecided as to my major in college, I have always had the dream of playing a college sport. My parents have always challenged me to make school a priority while encouraging me to try a variety of extracurricular activities from musical instruments to sports. My family has definitely fostered in me a love of basketball from a young age. They have also inspired and challenged me to work hard and honor the Lord in everything I do. Even though I still have much room for improvement, I accept the challenge because I know that "...With God all things are possible" (Matt. 19:26). My personal life goal is to be the best I can be at whatever I do. Therefore, I strive to honor the Lord by being the best student-athlete I can be. I play with passion and encourage others, while making good grades in school.
For me, playing basketball is not about beating other players or shining the spotlight on myself just to capture your attention. Its about honoring the Lord first and foremost; it's about being part of a team effort; and finally, it's about competing against myself and improving. The part of basketball that I enjoy most is being part of a team. After all, what is gained by winning if there is no one to share in the joy of victory and hardwork with you?
Already this year, my coaches have helped make my dream a reality. They have taught me so much and I am forever thankful to them! Without a doubt I know that they will help make me college-ready by my senior year. I am confident that by then I will be a factor on any collegiate team. My goal is to play for a Division I school, but I will greatly appreciate and carefully consider offers from other schools.
Finally, I am looking to attend some camps this summer. The closer to home and the cheaper the more likely I will be able to attend.
