Personal Statement
Ever since I was a little girl I have wanted to go to college and play basketball for a college team. The reason I consider myself to be a good candidate for a team is that I am self-motivated. I drive myself to do the things the coach asks us to do, and then go beyond that. I spend most of my time outside running, playing ball, or just doing other physical stuff. Also during the off-season I am working out with my dad, going to the gym, and going to my brothers baseball practice and running and practicing with them. At practice and during games I try to motivate my teammates, and challenge them to do their very best. I strive to have good grades; my family has made that a rule over the years. Academia comes before sports or other activities. I never turn down an opportunity for a chance at a scholarship. In school I am in the gifted and talented program (GT). I have been nominated for the Rogers Scholars Program, Duke Tips program, participated in GEMS (Girls Exploring Math and Science), and nominated for National Youth Leadership Conference.
I haven't made up my mind as far as what I want to study in college, but my best subjects are math and science, and those are the ones I find to be the most interesting. These subjects are difficult, but always keep me thinking, always challenge me.
