Hello, my name is Aja Law. I'm from Florien, Louisiana. I'm am the seventeen years old daughter of Shawn White & Aswanya Law. Currently, I am starting my senior year at Florien High School. I've played basketball for the Florien Lady Blackcats for the past 5 years now. Some of my accomplishments include winning the title of Class B State Champions, being MVP of Class B since the eighth grade, and making All-State first team since the eighth grade. I was named Shreveport Times All-Area MVP as well as Shreveport Times All-Region MVP. I was also honored to be named the Shreveport Times Region Female Basketball Player of the Year. These are a few of my accomplishments. As you can see, I take basketball very seriously. I've been playing since kindergarten when I played Biddy Basketball. My mom and dad were phenomenal players in high school. My dad went on to play in college, and it is my wish to do the same. I'm new to the recruiting process, however, I saw it as a great opportunity. Two coaches at my school told me about the NCSA’s website. Since that time, I have registered and I am actively looking for a college to attend. Without a doubt, plan to go to college, but I would love to go to college and play basketball. It's been a lifelong dream of mine. I, also, know that going to college to play basketball is a gift and an opportunity not given to everyone, but I do believe that this is an opportunity that I deserve.I do not want to sound arrogant, but I am a good player. I may not be the best, but I do have great qualities to add to any team. I also acknowledge the fact that I do lack certain skills and require work in some area, as do all players. I am a motivator, not only on the court, but in the classroom as well. Teamwork makes the dream work. I know that during the recruiting process you are required to look at grades. As you probably already know, my overall GPA was a 3.75. I have also taken the ACT and my highest score was a 22. I know I can and will improve that score in the next year.If I were to get a scholarship to play basketball, it would help me out tremendously. I live with my mom who is a single parent and my younger brother Asa. My mother and father have provided us with almost everything we need. However, if I received a scholarship to play basketball, it would definitely take some pressure off of them because I know they will do whatever it takes to help me succeed. Along with paying for my education, a scholarship would help to the thing I do aspire to do most - play basketball. If I go on to play basketball after college, it would be great because then I would have a job doing what I love. Even if I do not play basketball after college, I would still have the reward of earning a degree. I know that education is a major key to success. With or without a scholarship, I plan on going to college and getting my degree. But, my college career would be so much sweeter if and the journey so much better if I could play basketball along the way.
