Personal Statement
As early as I remember, basketball has been part of my life. I was on every recreational and travel team that was offered. As I grew, basketball grew with me. I love the game. I enjoy the fast-moving pace but also the meticulous details that you need to have to be a good player. I enjoy the leading aspect, stepping up, and being the girl that your teammates look to give the ball to in tough situations.
I'm the type of player that will emulate what the coach needs. My game adapts and changes so much based on each opponent. If the game can be won by taking control of the boards that's what I’ll focus on. If the ball is rolling across the floor, I’m the one to dive on the ground after it. If the opposite block is wide open from a collapsing zone, that's where you'll find me calling for the ball. If our team is stressed and falling apart I’m the one to step up, take control, and be the leader. That’s why I love the game of basketball so much. It's constantly changing, as a player you can constantly change.
As much as I love basketball, I always try to find a balance between academics and athletics. Grades are just as important, if not more important than basketball, to me. I take pride in my hard work on and off the basketball court. Being the best that I can be academically is one of those areas I take pride in. My hard work and dedication to my athletics and academics won’t stop, I'm going to keep pushing myself to be the best athlete and student I can be.
