I started playing basketball when I was seven years old through the recreation department in my County and slowly moved toward better things. What really made me start to learn and improve was a basketball development program I joined when i was 10 years old called CORE. Being a part of that made me challenge myself and learn from everyone around me.
In middle school I made the Rec. Plus Team and played three years on it. My 10th grade high school season is when I came up against and had to work through some obstacles. I was not playing at the best of my ability and my team was slowly falling apart due to the lack of coming together and playing as a team. In the end I was able to get back up and really focus and in the process pick my whole team up and have a successful season.
Basketball has helped me become a leader on and off the court and that is a huge blessing. I am very grateful to have been chosen to be a captain for my Junior year. It has helped me grow not only as a basketball player but a person as well. I know that as a captain my responsibility is to make sure my teammates work together and become the best players they can be.
My goal is to go to college and become a Special Education Teacher. To get there I know that my academic success will be more important than anything I do on the court. But I also know that basketball has helped and will help me in whatever my future holds.
