Yamirelis Matos '22 Recruiting Profile

Hello my name is Yamirelis Matos. I have been playing basketball since I was five years old and always knew I wanted to play basketball at the college level. In college I want to excel and be the best version of myself not only in basketball but academics as well. I want to proudly represent the basketball team and make an example of the program and how we play. My dream is to become a great basketball player and work harder everyday to get to where I want to become a professional. I value my academics as much as my sports and for this reason I can be a great asset. “What makes me a good candidate for their team?” My core values ; respect,kindness,determination,heart,and faith.I would make a good candidate because  everything I do I strive for it to be my best. I am a team player on and off the court. My position is small forward however I have experience in playing all positions.In the game of basketball i am aware, strong minded, passionate, coachable, confident, willing to prepare to win, and constantly helping my teammates get better. I am left hand dominant and fast which can also bring some diversity. What makes me different in character is my heart. For example, the opposing team is up three with twenty seconds in the fourth quarter,our team begins to accept the loss, I will not give up and I will work harder and harder until I hear the buzzer to score the three points or more to get us into overtime or win. My personality displays leadership and passion for the game on the court. Overall my personality displays i'm different because i am and always have been a straight A student who takes their academics seriously, i am very determined and willing to take on any challenge, and love the sport since my youth so i know the dynamics and i work hard everyday to get better as a player.As an example, strength training and basketball practices on my own is key to success.For me settling is not an option continuous growth is going to make me the player i want to be.
