Personal Statement
So far, the highlight of my high school career would have to be winning the semi-finals District game against the Saline Hornets my sophomore year. The hornets have always been a hard team to beat, but my team managed to complete that task. Although we had a heartbreaking loss in District finals against Belleville, we accomplished quite a bit as a program to get there. Since that game I have only become more confident and determined to play good basketball with my teammates, and to make our coach proud. Currently in my basketball career, two of my teammates are suffering ankle injuries. Considering both of these teammates play the same position as me, I have had a tremendous amount of pressure added on to my plate. This has led me to become a leader as a student-athlete.
I am a good candidate for a college basketball team because of my leadership. I can adjust to difficult tasks without hesitation. I learned to be patient, humble, and determined from my high school experience. Things won't always turn out the way you want them to, so you must stay determined and keep improving. This is what I learned from our hard loss in District finals. I am looking for a program that will meet my best interest athletically and academically. I am a quality athlete due to my work-ethic, leadership, and the positive energy I bring to the team. As a dedicated athlete that plays basketball year-round and a leader of my team, I think I have what it takes to play basketball at the college level. It would be a true blessing to play on your team!
