Personal Statement

I am a 5' 6" point guard/shooting guard from Morrice, MI.  I am a senior at Morrice Jr/Sr High School.  As a sophomore on the varsity team, I received GAC Honorable Mention and Argus Press Honorable Mention. As a junior I received All-State Honorable Mention, GAC First Team, Argus Press Dream Team and Lansing State Journal First Team, Class D. My senior year I received Athlete of the Week for the Argus Press and I was awarded one of the Top 20 Free-Throw Shooters in Michigan.

I want to attend a college where I can be pushed in the classroom and on the basketball court. I'm willing to look at any school in the country, location doesn't matter to me. It is also really important to me to receive an excellent education.

In the classroom, I am diligent, motivated, and maintain a high GPA. I was inducted into the National Honor Society my sophomore year and I have been a class representative for the Anti-Bullying committee for the last four years. I received Scholastic Recognition twice for maintaining a GPA 3.5 or higher for six semesters. I also volunteer at American Red Cross blood drives and giving Thanksgiving dinners to those in need.

I am a team leader and try to lead by example by encouraging others and getting my teammates more involved. I am very coachable and I do the best I can to help other teammates to be successful. I strive to be the hardest working player on and off the court.

I show grit year-round by working on my basketball skills. I have participated the last four years on an AAU Team. I also played junior high softball and played junior high soccer. Once in high school, I played volleyball, ran varsity track and field (state qualifier for two years in a row) and lifted in the weight room, which all contributes to my athleticism.
