Personal Statement
Hi
I have been playing basketball since 1st grade and started playing competitive travel team basketball in 4th grade. I began playing AAU basketball in 6th grade and we had an exceptional team (2nd in Division 1 State Tournament) and have done so ever since then. I really enjoy AAU because I have made a lot of friends from all over the area and it is really fun and competitive basketball. Basketball has been a really big part of my life because i love being part of a team, we each have our own strengths and weaknesses, and it teaches you life long lessons. I am a great teammate because I believe I put the team needs before my own. if I need to be a scorer one game I can do that, if I need to be the defensive focused player I can do that, if I need to be a play maker I can do that. I believe I have a high basketball IQ and understand the concepts of the game. The game is bigger than the individuals.
I am really looking forward to college, to be on my own and to begin to fulfill my dreams, hopefully to be working as a buyer for a major retail company. For me moving away from my hometown will be good for me because it will allow me to grow as a person. I have really been focusing on academics this year (junior year) because I understand how important that will be to get into the college I want. I have thought a lot about playing college basketball. I love the social and comradery aspect basketball and believe basketball would make me a better student in college. I am really excited about the possibilities and can't wait to begin the process.
