Personal Statement
I am a leader, who feeds off the successes of my teammates and my team. While I’ve had my share of successes during my young basketball career, the adversity and struggles our team has endured with injuries and illnesses this season (my sophomore year) has made me a stronger player and an even better leader. We have struggled to win games with key players out, but this experience has helped me step up, lead the team, improve my game, and grow both as a person and a player. My main accomplishments for my sophomore year were to set the record for 3 pointers in a game (8), set the season record for 3 pointers made (77) and make the South Suburban All-Conference team.
I have been fortunate to have great teammates and coaches, and I have learned the value of hard work, sacrifice, teamwork, and perseverance. My competitiveness and passion for the game of basketball has driven me to train hard and elevate my game into a very capable college-level player. While my strength is 3-point shooting, I am a versatile player with a high basketball IQ who continues to develop and improve every time I go into the gym.
My immediate goals are to be a team captain next year as a junior, maintain a 4.0 GPA, and dedicate myself to do whatever it takes to help take my team to the state tournament before I graduate. Striving to accomplish these goals for the remainder of my high school career will help focus my efforts and prepare me for my ultimate goal of competing at the college level.
