Ashley Gustavson '19 Recruiting Profile

My love for the game of basketball started in the second grade when I began watching traveling basketball as a spectator. I diligently observed the game and tried to figure out how I could compete at that level. Starting in the fourth grade I got my chance to play and experienced great success at every level.

As an eighth grader I was fortunate to play on the Mankato West High School varsity team and as a freshman, became a starter. In 2017 I was recognized as the most improved player, was selected to All-Conference, All City, and Spotlight player of the week. I am also a four year starter on the varsity soccer team and was selected to the All-Conference (3 years) and All-City teams. Being the youngest player for both basketball and soccer has helped me become a better leader. As a result I have learned to become a stronger teammate and student-athlete. I support my team by promoting common goals and taking responsibility for my own actions. I have a strong work ethic and believe that you should compete at both practice and games as if it was your last.

For the past four years I have had the opportunity to play AAU basketball for Southern Minnesota Fury-2019, 2018 Elite Team, and North Tartan 2019 Elite. My primary position is a shooting guard while assisting with both the point guard and forward positions. I attribute my success on the court not only by contributing offensively but also as an aggressive defender.

My high school academic goals are to graduate with honors while continuing to be a multisport athlete. My college aspirations are to pursue a degree in Healthcare. In addition, I have a strong desire to play college basketball. Basketball has taught me; time management, goal setting, teamwork, and commitment to name a few life skills. I am looking for a college that best fits me both academically and athletically.
