Makala Keefe '16 Recruiting Profile

What stands me out from most athletes is my determination and passion for Basketball and throwing the shot put and discus in Track. 

As far as a basketball player, I am a very well rounded player who strives for her team to be the best they can be. I am a player that will be the first one to a loose ball or the one who gets the shot off before anyone taller than I can block it. Being a team player is what I know and if there is an open player to get the shot off, I am the one who will get it to them. My court awareness is  stellar, always looking for the screen, assist or to make the basket. I also bring spirit to the team, getting everyone motivated and ready to play the game. Going to State was the highlight of my team this year, I was very proud to be a part of it.

As far as Track , I am a shot put and discus thrower. As a Sophomore, I made it to State throwing the discus. As a junior, I am going to State for both the shot put and discus. My coach tells me I am very coachable and take what I learn and put it to good use. In one months time, I took what I learned in shot put and threw 4 feet further than the previous month. My competitive nature and determination is what takes me to State to compete at a high level. At State this year(2015) I ranked 7th in the discus and 9th in the shot put. Being the team captain is a priviledge and it is my job to make sure all our throwers have a good experience during the track season. I continually learn to help my team grow.
