Personal Statement
For as long as I can remember I have always had aspirations of attending college to play basketball. My dad coached Varsity basketball when I was younger and I always was in his practices, even when I was in elementary school. My father played college basketball and has been able to give me advice about work ethic and how I need to go about preparing myself both athletically and academically.
I led my team to our first district championship in 15 years and we finished 2nd in our conference after not winning a conference game the year before I joined the team as a freshman. I was first team all conference and all district in basketball freshmen year. Sophomore year I was first team all conference and District MVP as we won the conference for first time in 16 years. Junior year, I was chosen as an Elite 30 player by Roundball Review publication, Class 5 All District, Columbia Tribune Girls Basketball All Star.
Academically I have a 3.7 GPA and I have 25 dual credits that I will start college with. My father has his doctorate and my mother has her Bachelors and both are educators, so academics are important in our family. I believe it is important to be a well rounded person that incorporates both academics, athletics and life in general. There needs to be a good balance between all things in life.
