Personal Statement
Hello, my name is Tiara Whitmus, I am currently attending Lustre Christian High School in Lustre Montana. I have many different hobbies that include; all activities, showing livestock, hanging with my family and friends, and especially playing basketball. School has always been a top priority in my life. I work hard to maintain a high GPA, and I also volunteer my time to many different things in my life; church groups, youth basketball camps, and teach kids how to show livestock. I am a student athlete, so I have always had the concept that you need to put in the work in order to achieve the success you are intending. To me basketball and school are very relatable because you study the game to know the best outcomes. Meaning you watch film to make your team and yourself better like seeing better opportunities or openings that we may have missed. I also take advice from my coaches to make myself better. I am not like most basketball players who aspire to play at the collegiate level. I started playing basketball in 6th grade where I didn't even know how to dribble a basketball or the concept of even playing the game. At that time I realized how much I loved the sport and wanted to play it further than just in high school. Now, I am a very good ball handler, my three point percentage is solid, I work very hard on defense, and my basketball IQ is very high. I also can see the floor very good and see openings, feeding my teammates the ball when they are open. I also like to study the strengths and weaknesses of players I am up against. I am a student of the game which means I know the strengths and weaknesses of my players. As being the captain of my basketball team I like to help them in anyways they may need especially in school classes, to be a role model for upcoming players and people. It fuels me to improve therefore, I always strive to be one of the hardest working players and recruit you will find. I am working on becoming a better person on and off the court. As well as being a role model to all my peers and make my parents very proud. My dream is to play the highest level of ball while attending college studying somewhere in the animal science field.
