Personal Statement

My goal for college Basketball is to bring my skills to a team that will help me grow not only as a player but as a person. After college I plan on coming back to my Reservation (Crow Agency, Montana) to give what I have learned back to my people ( Crow tribe). I want to be a role model for the young people to look up to, so when it comes to making choices they will have someone. A person who not only chose to sacrifice to reach their goals but also a role model that chose sports instead of alcohol when it came to choosing an outlet for my problems.

I feel like my work ethic sets me apart from a lot of other players. If I see someone who is better than me I do no choose to accept their superiority, instead I choose to get in the gym and put in more work so I can face my opponent. I believe that hard work paired with dedication is the only way to success. This philosophy and my love for the game is the reason I love basketball so much. When times were hard for me I chose to use basketball for my therapy, not only did I find myself improving but I also seen my game improving. The harder I worked the more fun I began to have, I now apply this to all aspects of my life. In my academics, I do struggle, after applying my hard work and dedication I see that school is becoming more easy. For me the academics and athletics go hand in hand, without my academics I wouldn't have my sports and without my sports I wouldn't have a reason to work so hard academically.

A main belief for me is that the only way I will succeed is if my whole team succeeds. When I look at my team I see a fist, how together we are stronger then when we are apart. I want to be the best player I possibly can be for my team, this means that I will put in the extra work to ensure that I can fulfill whatever role it is that my coach gives me, whether it be rebounding, scoring, or maybe even just being a good cheerleader for my team. I also strive to be a post player that rebounds and boxes out more than my opponents . To me those two things are the most important values in my game, to pick up the misses my teammates have and convert them into points. It's important to me that my teammates aren't afraid to drive because of a fear that they will miss, causing a turn over; instead I want them to drive the lanes and know if they can't make the point, I have their back.
