Personal Statement
My parents have been the most influential in my life because they taught me the key concepts to be a kind, hardworking person. I have four younger siblings, two brothers, and two sisters. I believe this has encouraged me to be a good leader and role model for them as well. I teach them to make friends with only those people that will "only bring out the best in you."
I became interested in basketball my sophomore year of high school. Some of my friends were on the basketball team, so I tried out and made the team. I did not become a starter that year, but the following year I did.
I have a better understanding of organizing my schedule that involves academics while playing basketball. This was difficult at the beginning with time management, but I feel I have improved over the past year. When I fail at something I figure out what happened and why and learned from it in order for it to not repeat itself.
My academic goals for the rest of high school would be to graduate getting a 3.5 GPA. I would also like to play college basketball and go into the medical field.
An obstacle in my life has been changing schools during my high school years. The current school I am at I attend three days a week, the other two days of the week, I work online from home. I struggled the first semester with my math and science classes because doing problems online pertaining to these subjects was very different than doing problems on paper and during class time.
My laid back and non -reactive personality have worked out very well. I tend to stay out of the drama and I also don't take anything personally, this has worked out very well for me.
