Personal Statement

Hi, my name is Daelynn Lee. I currently live in Portales New Mexico which is a small town in Eastern New Mexico with my mom and dad. I have an older sister that attends the local university. I am currently a Senior at Dora High School and have attended Dora Schools since the first grade. I live on a farm/ranch where we grow hay and black angus cattle. I have worked on the farm along my family all my life. My parents have taught me hard work and dedication that I use everyday on and off the court.

I have been playing basketball since I was 5 years old.  I knew I wanted to play at the collegiate level since elementary school. I know that playing in college is a once in a lifetime opportunity and would be a dream of mine come true. I love to study and analayze the game at all levels, I feel like I have a high basketball IQ. I have been a referee for the local city league sports for over 2 years. Even though it's my job I love being around the sport that I am refereeing and watching the kids grow and learn.

I have strong ball handling skills and even though my right hand is my dominant hand I favor the left side more which gives me an advantage. I am a team leader and try to lead by example while encouraging my teammates. I am very coachable and strive to be one of the hardest working players and one of the hardest working recruits you will find. I will give 110% to my team as well as the coaches.

I currently have a 4.0 GPA and have completed 26 college credits. I also am a teachers aid for the elementary physical education classes at my school. As well as serve as class president. Academics to me is just like athletics, you always push yourself to be the best you can be!

My collegiate goals include obtaining a bachelor's degree in Athletic Traning and someday becoming an athletic trainer for a Division 1 college team or for a professional team. By becoming an athletic trainer I can still be around sports that I love and will have the ability to help athletes live out their dream.

I want to attend a college where I can push myself in academics as well as on the basketball court. I hope to become a great role model to all my peers and make my family proud.

Thank you for taking the time to read my personal statement and I hope to hear from you soon.
