Thank you for visiting my profile! My name is Za'Nyah Bernard and a diligent high school student dedicated to leadership development and team collaboration. I'm currently a junior at Millbrook School in New York. I've loved the game of basketball since third grade where my mom was my first coach. I've led my team to many championships, winning consecutive seasons. I'm a student athlete, a great team player, quick on my feet and have a high basketball IQ on and off the court. I am coachable, very passionate about the game of basketball and know it takes a lot of work especially balancing between my academics and training to become a better player/person. My journey has made me become more confident and I plan to continue to improve my skills and look forward to what the future holds.
Over the years, I have grown to appreciate the thrill of competition and pushing yourself, even when it might not be easy, the value of being someone others can count on, through good times and bad, and the confidence one gains by being in situations when the pressure is on, knowing that careful preparation can be impactful. Basketball is a game- a game I love, but I appreciate that I am gaining an important tool set that will help prepare me to be successful in many aspects of life.
I'm dual sport athlete who wants to play basketball in college for a high energy team and a school with my academic interests. I have an natural ability to see the court and work it to my advantage. My communication skills assist fellow teammates to the ultimate goal of winning. Additionally, I am involved in Student Government where I serve as Junior class president of 2024 where we work to make the school environment a better place. I am looking for a college/university where I can be challenged both on the court and in the classroom. Academics are very important to me as I plan to eventually pursue a career in Computer Engineering, so I am seeking a program which can help me fulfill both of these important goals.
