Personal Statement
I started playing basketball as a 6th grader, and it was then that I discovered what I wanted to spend my time doing. I’ve found that through my experiences in basketball, I’ve become a harder worker, stronger student, better teammate, and a more confident leader. I’ve been a member of the Varsity girls basketball team at Friends Seminary going on 4 years, and during this time I’ve experienced many highs and lows. Since being named team captain as a sophomore, I’ve been heavily relied on to pick my teammates up during the tough times we’ve faced, as well as set an example for how to maintain a strong work ethic, not only during the season but in the offseason as well. This work ethic contributed to me being named to the ACIS All League 1st Team in my junior season.
My goal from day one has been to play college basketball. I’m a tireless worker on both ends of the court, always willing to take and accept constructive criticism, and most importantly, I feel as though I’m someone who my teammates will endear themselves to. As someone who knows I need to continue to get better every day, I’m willing to take the time in order to successfully achieve this goal that I’ve been working towards for a long time. Playing basketball has made me a better student, as it has helped me manage my time more efficiently, and a more well-rounded person since basketball has served as a huge part in my life. I’d like to continue to develop these attributes as a student-athlete in college. Thank you for taking the time to read this, and I look forward to hearing from you!
