Hi! My name is Megan Kay and during the 2021-2022 school year I am going to be a sophomore in Pearl River High School. Academically, I always push myself to do the best I possibly can on tests and assignments. With the hard work I put into school, my overall average is a 97. One goal I have for the rest of high school is to continue being a high honor roll student. Over the past few years I gratefully accepted The DAR Good Citizen award (2019), High Honor Roll awards (2020-2021), the math 8 award (2020), the english 8 award (2020), the living environments honors award (2021), the algebra award (2021), the choir award (2021), and the community service citizenship award (2021). I pride myself on school work, and always strive to do my best.
I like to consider my basketball career a journey. This journey started in 3rd grade when I played for St.Margarets CYO, on the B team. The next year I played on the A team on my St.Margarets team. I played on this team up until 8th grade and the coaches I had on this team helped me find my potential, and love for being a power forward. These coaches also were the biggest influential factor I had to start playing on an AAU team. So, the next year in 5th grade I started to play for an AAU team called, Empire State Storm in the spring. The next fall, in 6th grade, I started to play travel basketball in the fall as well, but for a new team who I still play with to this day. I continued to play CYO and fall and spring AAU from 6th to 8th grade. In 7th grade I started to run cross country as conditioning for my upcoming basketball seasons, I am still continuing this into high school as well. In 7th grade I made my middle school's modified basketball team. In 8th grade I made the jump to play for the high school's JV team a year early, as opposed to playing another year on the modified team. I also started on the JV team, which was a great achievement of mine. Unfortunately at the end of 8th grade I could not play a spring season for my travel team because of covid, but I continued to do zoom workouts, while I could not be at practice. We started to play again from the late summer into the winter of 9th grade. Also in 9th grade I played on my high school's JV team and was a starter and captain on that team. And lastly, for now, I played in the spring for my AAU team, Empire State Storm. My take away from my journey is that I am a very loyal player and I always strive to get better and take my next step onto something new.
