Personal Statement

My backstory is a little different than the others that you as a coach may see. I started to fall in love with the game of basketball when I played, for the first time on a organized team, in the 7th grade, I showed up to the sport a little late if you ask me. If I could go back in time, I would start playing earlier because of the sheer joy it brings me. It took me a while to start playing, because our school didn’t have a middle-school team until I was in 7th Grade, most likely because we were a private, international school in the South-Western portion of Germany. My family moved to Germany when I was 6 years old, for the purpose of mission work with the International Mission Board. This school was where my passion for the sport was born, we had intermural sports after school, and this is where I developed my basic skills, and then we formed a team where I got on court experience. We moved back to the US when I was 13, and I played at my middle school for the last year, then I entered High School, where things got serious. I stuck with the program, and now I am going into senior year and still passionately playing. My collegiate aspirations are to play basketball for a semi-selective four year college. Currently I am undecided about my major, but I have a academic profile that is strong, and I continue to challenge myself by taking more Advanced Placement courses, along with honors. I also challenge myself linguistically. I currently speak 3 languages, English, German, and Spanish. By growing up in a foreign country I picked up the language and the correct pronunciation. I love to meet new people, and continue to diversify my cultural beliefs. Taking it back to basketball, I wish to continue playing throughout college.

I hope that this helped you learn a little more about me, and thank you for taking the time to consider me,

Cora Lubsen
