Personal Statement
My name is Farrah Benner. I am a 5'8" (and still growing) shooting guard who is dedicated and is looking to get better everyday. I started playing basketball in 7th grade and fell in love with the game. As a freshman I started JV and received the award of leading scorer. As a sophomore I started varsity (every game) and led the team in scoring. I broke two school records, most 3's in a game (8) and most 3's in a season (63). I also received the coaches award, was 1st Team all Conference, All gazette Team for Medina Gazette, 1st Team all County, Student Athlete of the Week, was second in Medina County in scoring with 301 points, and led Medina County in 3 point scoring. I also was invited to the Hoopla 3 point contest and took second place by 1 bucket. I workout 3 days a week to gain strength/ speed and agility and there is not a day that goes by that I do not workout with a basketball, I shoot everyday. I am the first person at every game, practice, workout, etc. getting stretched out and ready to get some extra shots in before we start. I am the last one to leave as this gives me more practice and shooting time. One thing I tell people is "I shoot everyday so I don't lose my shot", most people look at me like I am crazy but that is my motivation to keep working. I play AAU through out the Summer and Fall and I go to clinics for guards two days a week in the off season. I also join a summer and fall league (sponsored by my AAU team) to get extra playing time in. I am all about school and sports. I received the Summa Cum Laude award during my freshman and sophomore year. My academics mean as much to me as my game and I work hard for the grades that I get. After high school, I see myself in college focused on my studies ( in the medical field) and playing basketball at the same time. I believe my work ethic is like no other and I strive to get better every day. Anything less is unacceptable.
