Personal Statement
I was a late bloomer for basketball. I started in the eighth grade but by the end of freshman year I was dressing varsity. I knew that playing with girls who have been playing basketball their entire life wouldn't be easy. If I wanted to earn and keep a spot on varsity I would have to put the time and effort in. Playing basketball has taught me character traits such as responsibility, sportsmanship, and leadership. All these skills would benefit any college basketball team. My high school coach always told me that to be able to play basketball you have to have mental toughness and physical toughness. Every year since I was a freshman my high school team has went on to play in the district finals and every year we have lost. Coming in 2nd place three years in a row has tested my mental toughness but every time I have came out the next year stronger and better. I don't let a loss define me as a player.
