Personal Statement

I'm currently a senior at Dayville High School in Dayville Oregon and let me tell you, Dayville is small! There are barely one hundred and fifty people in the whole town and only thirty kids in the whole high school (that's counting the Junior High)! I'm third out of my class of only four kids and in all honesty, almost everyone in our high school gets to play sports. The only reason you wouldn't play is if you weren’t eligible or if you really didn't want to.

Athletically, I always try my hardest, despite the lack of competition for a spot on the team. I want to be the best, not just for myself, but for my team as well. Because if I am the best that I can be, and still strive to be better, then I know I'm doing as much as I can for myself as a student and as a teammate. At Dayville High School, they promote sportsmanship, bettering yourself, and striving to work hard, on and off the court.

Academically, I work hard and try to balance sports, FFA, 4-H, Student Council, and school work. I am an active member in these clubs and associations, and always do my best to make sure that whatever is good enough for me is better for somebody else. My favorite classes are history and English, I sometimes struggle with math, but get it done with a little help, and I’m acceptable at science. I have also been involved in other clubs like HOBY and People to People Student Ambassador.

In the future I hope to find the college that fits my needs, pass my classes, get a degree in my preferred field of study, and walk away with the best experience of my life, knowing that I played for a great college, a great team, and a great coach. I want to be able to tell people "You know, I went to this college and played ball for them! It was the greatest experience of my life and they were there every step of the way to help me." I also want to be able to use my experiences from high school and college ball, and be able to apply it to the real world.

I believe that I am a great candidate for your team because I always work hard, try my best, and never think that I am above or below any task. I believe that everyone on the team is equal! I know that some positions are more important than others, but what I mean is that everyone is important to the team; everyone has that special something that they bring to the team. A team… shouldn’t just be a group of young adults, a team…. A team should be a family.  They should be there for each other in hard times and should be friends off of the court, not just on it. You see, my high school team isn’t just a group of my classmates or my friends… It’s my family and I play for them.
