Hello! My name is Ashleigh Matter. I am a JV starter (2015-2016) at Elizabethtown Area High School for the girls basketball team. I love basketball with a passion. On and off the court I am constantly looking to improve my my skill and IQ of the game. I am always focused, hardworking, and seeking to finish what I start. During the week I go to the gym in the mourning before school and then I attend practices after school. I continue to stay fit and healthy. Waking up every day knowing that I'm going to learn more today then I did yesterday is what gets me threw life! I feel that positively is such an important aspect of a team that not only am I responsible to bring to every practice and every game but the players and coaches of the team also. Optimism keeps people focused and pushes the whole team to not dwell on the past but to learn from our mistakes. Keeping a clean and positive attitude allows me to get along with my teammates and not create enemy's, as a team we are all one big family and we stick with each other through the roughest times of anybody's life, we will help get them through it.
As a student-athlete, education is very important as well. I aspire to find a college that offers a great athletic program but also a valuable education, so I can further myself outside of college. I am currently undecided what to major but a college known for their education system will help me define my future studies. I am leaning more twords the health care aspects of education. As the health care field has many options that I can choose from once the time comes that I do need to pick a college. Being a student-athlete is a privilege and I honor that privilege. I excel in my classes and I'm always trying to improve how I learn and relate it to how the world is today.
