Personal Statement
My name is Emily Worcester, and I am currently a Junior at Homer-Center High School in Homer City, Pennsylvania. I am a point-guard/guard for the Homer-Center Varsity basketball team. I have played basketball since I was very little, and I love it more every day. When I step onto the court, I am not only trying to make myself better but also my team. In college, I would like to improve my basketball game even more and become the best basketball player I can be. I have been playing AAU for two different teams the last four years. I am in the high honors program in high school and maintain a 101% grade point average. I have a very strong work ethic, both on the court and in the classroom.
My junior year academically is going very well. I have maintained a 4.0 while taking college credit courses. I did well on the PSAT test and am scheduled to take my SAT's in May.
My junior year in basketball was successful record wise by going 19-4, but disappointing by missing the state playoffs by one game. Personally, I maintained my points per game, steals, and assists with less playing due to a stronger bench this year. I am most proud of my work with perimeter shooting. I was tied with the most three-pointers on the team, with 17 compared to last years 3. My three-point percentage jumped from 18% last year to 31% this year. My field goal percentage went from 35% to 40%. I also broke the school record in assist and am 6 steals away from breaking the school record for steals.
