Personal Statement

My name is Kaitlyn Darrené Hopkins. I am a 6 foot 2 senior, weighing 185 pounds. I love the sport of basketball. I've been playing for ten consecutive years and consider my self to be a fairly good player. However, I have a lot to learn and am very willing! Being a "big girl" I was always playing the forward/center position. I practice my dribbling and shooting skills everyday, because I know that when I get to college, my days of being one of the biggest people on the team may just be over! So I want to be prepared for that, but at the same time I love my position! I am a team player! I like to encourage my team in even the worse situations, because teams win games; not the player her self. I also am a hard worker. If you tell me I need to work on something or improve in a certain area; I am all for it. I will do my best to meet your expectations and surpass pass them. This year, along with my freshman, sophomore, juniors years, I hold a starting position. I am the high scorer of our team (for 3 consecutive years) and hold highest rebound total. I just truly love the game! As do I my academics. Currently I have a 4.0 and am at the top of my class. My goal is to play college basketball, and use my skill to go to a school where I can further my intelligence to excel in life. I want to become a pediatrician, so a school with a medical or science related major is great. Furthermore, I'm open to any type of college. I want to go to a college that has a purpose for me. So I can grow and learn more about the game of basketball. I know playing as a freshman isn't always the case in some schools. But I'll continue to work hard no matter the playing time! I am a good team player and I can't wait to go to a college that's willing to let me show that.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
