Basketball has always been a part of my life since I could hold a ball. I have played for as long as I can remember and that has changed my life. Playing basketball has given me a sense of responsibility and intense devotion to the sport that I love. That has also carried out to other aspects of my life. With spending so much time at a gym, basketball has taught me great time management skills. I am able to handle a heavy course-load at school, maintain a 4.2 GPA, and participate in my schools marching band, as well as play basketball. I have learned so much about who I am as a person during my years of playing. I have learned that not everything comes easily to me, if I want to master something, I have to work incredibly hard to get there. But I have learned that I am more than willing to spend the extra time to figure it out. Basketball has offered me many challenges along the way that I have learned to overcome. It has challenged me physically, mentally, and emotionally. There were times I was on a team that I just did not fit in with, however, I kept my head up and learned that I do not have to be friends with everyone to have a good time. I feel like that experience has shaped me to be a much more mature person and I have learned a lot from that season. Academically in college, I will continue to strive for excellence in my grades and continue to pursue harder classes that will challenge me to be the best version of myself as possible.
