Hi my name is Ashton Massey and I am currently a sophomore at Menno Public High School. Last year our basketball team ended the season with a very tough loss-- And I took it personally. It left a bitter taste in my mouth and a hungry desire to be a better and stronger basketball player. I have huge goals for this season and am determined to reach them all. This year Menno hired a new Head Coach and he made the decision to change my position from a power forward to point guard. I am excited to take on this challenge and looking forward to bettering myself and my abilities. I have been working relentlessly to become the best player for my team and to help fill the holes left by our graduated seniors. I do not plan on slowing down any time soon.
Last summer, I worked nonstop and found new ways to push my basketball abilities. I viewed the COVID-19 shutdowns and quarantines as an opportunity to become better than my competition. I am excited to continue to work on my physical abilities and mental strength again this season.
Off the basketball court I have a 4.0 GPA and am very involved with my school. I am an active participant in FFA and FCCLA and compete in track and field, cross country and volleyball. I love the busy school year and am looking to join even more groups next year. I am looking to pursue a career in the medical field but I am also passionate about photography and graphic design. I am very excited to see what my future holds.
