Personal Statement
Hello, my name is Matilda Anderson and I am from the Rosebud Reservation which is located in Rosebud, South Dakota. My goals are to get off the reservation doing what I love, make a name for myself and represent my Lakota people. Ever since I was a little girl my dream was to play Division I basketball and get my Masters Degree in the Sports Medicine Field. I want to be that leader/idol to show other young Native Americans that you can get off the rez and follow your dreams. I am a hard worker on and off the court, especially in the classroom. I like to meet new people and see other backgrounds of other athletes/coaches. I help a lot in my community and been a great person to come to for any help dealing with sports or education wise. I love my culture and where I come from, I carry myself in a good and humble way. I was brought up knowing that if you want something so badly you are going to have to work hard and I've been doing that. Meeting new athletes and coaches is going to be a great experience for me because I know I'm going to gain more knowledge. I'm a pretty fast learner too and my dedication to something is just beyond great. I'm not a quitter, I get the job done! I also believe I'm a very coachable athlete and I have a lot of respect for all people.
