Personal Statement
Hi! My name is Akela Armani Thompson but everyone calls me Kae. I am a 5'4 shooting guard and sometimes point guard, currently I am playing AAU basketball for Higher Goals Elite, I have been playing with this team for 2 seasons and I have been playing basketball for 4 years now. I attended Trinity High school in Euless TX and will be attending Lamar High school in Arlington TX graduating in the spring of 2018.
I plan on pursuing a Criminology and Criminal Justice - BA degree. Academics are very important to me because I also plan on forming my own business by the time I am 35. During school I plan on trying to maintain a 3.0 when I get to college. I am starting to prepare myself to take the ACT/SAT exams. Once I start taking the exams I will upload the results.
I'm a good candidate for any college program because I'm extremely respective, very coachable, always supportive of my teammates, and I have a great attitude. I also work hard during practices and I retain everything that's taught to me.
I've only been playing basketball since 7th grade, to me I feel like I started pretty late, but that hasn't stopped me from working hard each and every day to prove to everyone and myself that I can do all great things when I put my mind to it. I am developing into a pretty strong player but also I am currently working on improving my offense skills. I attend basketball training which consists of shooting form, shooting drills, and ball handling. One of my strong points is my defensive skills.I have a good understanding of how the game is played at the high school level and can't wait to learn at the collegiate level. I am starting to realize my potential to be a great basketball player. I'm getting better each week and it is starting to show in my tournaments. I'm also ready to bring the same enthusiasm with me to a university/college program.
