I began playing softball at the age of 6, with the help of my coaches and parents I quickly excelled and started playing on a select team. Just because I was now on a select team I didn’t stop working hard. I continued to put in the extra work and training that was needed. I grew up playing this sport because as a child all you ever want to do is be like your parents, and this is what my mother grew up playing. Therefor this is what I played. I enjoyed it and learned to love the sport. At the age of 12 I finally entered 7th grade and was so excited to play school sports. It was also a life altering year for me, everything I had ever dreamed was about to change, my passion was about to change. My coaches introduced me to a sport that in years past I had only watched on television. To my amazement, I fell in love. When I grabbed that basketball and started to dribble, it was a feeling I had never experienced. It was love at first sight. I came home spoke to my parents and was ready to walk away from a sport that I had been playing for 6 years and was really great at to pursue basketball. From that moment on, all I wanted was basketball.
I am self-driven to never give up and pride myself on hard work. I am not the typical teenage high school student, I strive to be better. I am a leader and set my own path. I steer away from the troubles some high school students fall victim for. My evenings after school always consist of basketball practice, personal training, or homework. Weekends are no different. I know choosing basketball and training over leisure time will come with benefits to my skill and performance on or off the court. I know that every decision I make now will be a direct impact on me reaching my goal of playing basketball at the next level.
All my life I have been raised to respect the game, my teammates, and my coaches. Also that I have to work hard for what I want and nothing in this world will be given to me. These are my core values, these are the things that separate me from other recruits. If given the opportunity to play for your team at a college level, not only will I bring skill, I will bring honesty, passion, determination, and the unwillingness to fail.
